About the Role

We are currently seeking passionate, reliable and empathetic Disability Support Workers (SIL) to provide essential care and support to individuals with disabilities in shared accommodation. This role as a Disability Support Worker (SIL) is diverse as each client needs are unique and may change each day. You will play a vital role in enhancing the lives and well-being of our clients and ensure the focus is always on supporting our clients to lead a fulfilling and more independent life and creating a warm home environment.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the National SIL Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing support to our clients with their daily routines and skills in the group home and community to encourage independence, including but not limited to,
  • Community Access/Social Support, Personal care, Domestic duties, Medication administration, Meal preparation
  • Understand and perform all tasks in line with the Clients Support Plans within scope of duties
  • Coach and build confidence in participants to develop skills needed such as cooking, budgeting and shopping.
  • Attend all mandatory training and willing to undertake complex task training as needed to meet the support needs of our clients.
  • Understand reporting requirements and ensuring incidents are reported appropriately
  • Comply with all internal policies and procedures including NDIS Code of Conduct

Ideal Candidate

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a Supported Independent Living or related role within the disability or community services sector
  • Proven experience working with people with disability and supporting a participant with high intensity support needs
  • ·Experience/confidence supporting a person with an acquired brain injury (ABI).
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willing to obtain)
  • Current SA WWCC (or willing to obtain)
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Current Driver License and access to reliable vehicle
  • MUST be flexible with your availability for shifts on a 24/7 roster (including sleepover and active nights)
  • Certificate III in Individual Support or related field and/or Minimum of 2 years experience in a SIL home environment is preferred
  • Compassion, patience, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to upholding the rights and dignity of individuals with disabilities.
  • A commitment to safe work practices and manual handling
