Description

Why AMS?

At Aerodrome Management Services (AMS), we play a critical role in supporting safe, compliant and efficient aerodrome operations across Australia—particularly in regional and remote communities. Our work enables connectivity, supports industry, and keeps communities moving.

This isn’t a desk-bound compliance role. You’ll be hands-on across multiple aerodromes, influencing real-world outcomes and shaping aviation security standards where they matter most.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for an experienced Aviation Security Specialist to support the delivery of aviation security functions across AMS-operated and client aerodromes.

Working closely with the Aviation Security Manager, you’ll be at the centre of compliance, assurance and operational delivery—supporting everything from audits and Transport Security Programs (TSPs) through to screening operations, accreditation and ASIC programs.

This is a role for someone who thrives on variety, enjoys being in the field, and takes pride in maintaining high standards in a regulated environment.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll support the Aviation Security Manager in delivering aviation security across AMS-operated and client aerodromes, providing clear, practical advice on legislative requirements and ensuring consistent compliance with the Aviation Transport Security Act, regulations and screening notices. You’ll stay across regulatory changes and assess their impact on operations, including the administration and management of Documentation and its relevant safety management system (OneReg).

You’ll conduct audits and inspections to ensure compliance with Transport Security Programs, identifying risks and working with operational teams to implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement.

This role will contribute to the development and ongoing management of Transport Security Programs, ensuring documentation remains accurate, current and compliant across multiple sites.

The Aviation Security Specialist will support screening operations, including accreditation, training coordination, competency requirements, SOP development and systems testing, ensuring operations meet contractual and regulatory standards. This role will also be accountable for the full lifecycle ownership of outports.

You’ll also assist with the ASIC program and broader operational delivery, including contract compliance, reporting and invoicing, supporting effective and compliant service delivery across AMS.

About You

The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, operationally minded and confident working in a regulated aviation environment. You can balance compliance with practicality and build strong relationships across teams and clients.

You’ll bring:

  • Experience in aviation screening operations and security environments
  • Strong knowledge of aviation security legislation and regulatory frameworks
  • Proven ability to manage audits, compliance and documentation
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • The ability to juggle multiple priorities across different locations

Qualifications

  • Certificate II in Security Operations or Transport Security Protection
  • Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
  • Lead Auditor qualification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Accreditation Assessor qualification (or willingness to obtain)

What Success Looks Like

  • Strong compliance outcomes across AMS aerodromes
  • Effective and consistent screening operations
  • Accurate, up-to-date security programs and documentation
  • Positive feedback from clients and operational teams

Why Join AMS?

At AMS, we provide specialist services to aerodromes across Australia, from major hubs to remote airstrips. Our growing team values safety, quality, and teamwork. This role offers exposure to diverse projects, extensive travel opportunities, and the chance to build a long-term career in a niche industry.
