Position Overview
As a Sport Programs Intern, you will join the Sport Engagement Team at ActivateUTS, which supports student sporting clubs and delivers a range of on-campus sport and recreation programs, including Women in Sport, Come and Try, and Discover Sydney. The team works closely with student club executives to help grow and strengthen clubs, while also creating opportunities for the wider UTS community to get involved in sport through engaging programs and events.
The Sport Programs Intern will support the day-to-day administration, planning and delivery of student sport programs and clubs. This internship provides hands-on experience in the university sport sector, with opportunities to contribute to program planning, research, promotion and event delivery. A key aspect of the role will be assisting with market research, participant feedback and program evaluation to help improve student engagement and the overall participant experience.
Key Responsibilities
Event Research, Support and Administration
- Working with the team to conduct market research to better understand our customers
- Interpreting research and report writing based on feedback
- Preparing an event and project plan based off event briefs
- Support event planning and delivery
Program and Club Administration and Reporting
- Preparing reports, project documentation and promotional materials
- Support the Sports Clubs reaffiliation process
Engagement and Collaboration
- Working with sport clubs to promote internal programs
- Collaborating with different ActivateUTS departments to promote programs
Selection Criteria
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good organisational and time management skills
- Basic knowledge of relevant tools, software, or methodologies
- An interest in research, data collection and interpreting participant feedback
- Genuine passion for student engagement, events, recreation and/or community programs

Location: UTS Sports Office, Building 4, 745 Harris Street, ULTIMO
Start Date: Week commencing Monday 3 August 2026
Hours: 12 hours per week (flexible), for a total of 100-140 hours (depending on internship requirements)
