About ActivateUTS – UTS Sport

ActivateUTS is the home of student life at UTS. From clubs and societies to events, programs and activities, we create opportunities for students to connect, get involved and make the most of their university experience.

Position Overview

Through this internship, you will gain hands-on experience in the planning, coordination, and delivery of the UTS UBL campaign, gaining valuable experience in sports operations, event management and high-performance sporting environments.

This role is ideal for a student seeking practical experience in university sport and event operations while developing transferable skills in project coordination, communication, and teamwork. 

Key Responsibilities  

Team Operations & Administration 

  • Assist with team logistics, including travel, accommodation (where applicable), and itinerary coordination.  
  • Support player and staff communications regarding fixtures, training, and travel arrangements.  
  • Prepare operational documents, schedules, and administrative resources.  
  • Assist with maintaining accurate records and team information.  

Game Day Operations 

  • Assist with venue set-up and pack-down for home UBL fixtures.  
  • Support the delivery of game day operations, ensuring equipment and resources are prepared.  
  • Assist in coordinating event schedules and operational timelines.  
  • Provide general support to staff, officials, athletes, and volunteers during game days.  

Marketing & Communications 

  • Capture photos and videos for digital content (where appropriate).  
  • Support engagement initiatives that enhance the student and fan experience. 

Selection Criteria 

  • Studying in a relevant field such as Sport and Exercise Management or Sport Business and enrolled in the related internship subject (e.g. 92511 Sport and Exercise Management Internship or 26600 Business Internship). 
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.  
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.  
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with social media platforms.  
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to support games and events. 

Learning Outcomes 

  • Develop an understanding of the operational requirements of a national university sporting competition.  
  • Gain practical experience in event and game day management.  
  • Build skills in project coordination, administration, and logistics.

Location: UTS Sports Office, Building 4, 745 Harris Street, ULTIMO 

Start Date: Week commencing Monday 3 August 2026

Hours: 12 hours per week (flexible), for a total of 100-140 hours (depending on internship requirements)
