Through clubs and societies, sport, events, wellbeing, volunteering and leadership opportunities, it fosters a vibrant and inclusive campus community. Position Overview
The Health & Fitness Operations Intern will gain practical experience across both sports hall and gym operations within ActivateUTS, while supporting the in-house Health & Fitness team in delivering high-quality programs and services to UTS students and broader clientele. This internship provides hands-on exposure to facility operations, member engagement, program delivery, and health promotion initiatives in a dynamic university environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Sports Hall Operations
- Assist with the daily operations of indoor sports courts and multipurpose spaces
- Support planning and delivery of sporting competitions, social sport, and/or events
- Monitor safe and appropriate use of facilities
- Provide high-quality customer service to facility users
2. Gym Operations
- Support day-to-day gym floor operations
- Assist with general membership enquiries
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of gym equipment and training spaces
- Support staff with member engagement and retention initiatives
- Assist in social media productions for the gym
- Observe and assist with fitness assessments and program delivery (where appropriate)
3. Health & Fitness Program Support
- Assist the Health & Fitness team in delivering weekly health and fitness programs for UTS students
- Support the facilitation of group fitness sessions, workshops, and/or wellbeing initiatives
- Contribute to program planning and development
- Assist with data collection and reporting on program outcomes
- Promote programs and initiatives through engagement with students
Selection Criteria
- Studying in a relevant field such as Sport and Exercise Management or Sport Business and enrolled in the related internship subject (i.e. 92511 Sport and Exercise Management Internship or 26600 Business Internship)
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Proactive, reliable, and professional approach
- Ability to work both independently and within a team
- Interest in health promotion and student wellbeing
- Current First Aid & CPR (desirable but not essential)
