Love working in a fast-paced kitchen where no two shifts are the same?
ActivateUTS is looking for a passionate and reliable Casual Chef (Grade 2) to join our culinary team at The Loft & Underground Bar. Working alongside our Group Executive Chef and wider hospitality team, you’ll prepare quality food, support busy service periods, and help create great experiences for students, staff, and guests across our vibrant campus venues.
Whether it’s a busy lunch service, student event, or evening function, you’ll play an important role in delivering consistently high-quality food in a safe, collaborative, and professional kitchen.
What You’ll Do

Prepare and present food in line with recipes, quality standards, and service expectations

Deliver efficient, high-quality service during busy trading periods

Maintain food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards

Assist with stock rotation, labelling, and food storage
-
Minimise food waste and support efficient kitchen operations
-
Work collaboratively with chefs, bartenders, and front-of-house teams
-
Follow Work Health and Safety (WHS) procedures and safe work practices
What You’ll Bring
Essential
-
Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen

Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
-
Basic Food Handler Certificate
-
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Strong communication and teamwork skills

Reliable with good time management skills

Physically capable of standing for extended periods and performing manual tasks

Flexible availability, including evenings and weekends

Commitment to maintaining a respectful, inclusive, and safe workplace

Experience working in a bar, pub, or similar hospitality venue
