Abyss Demolition is seeking an experienced Diesel Plant & Fleet Mechanic to join our team based in Loganholme, Queensland.
This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of heavy vehicles, earthmoving equipment, demolition attachments, trailers, and light vehicles. The successful applicant will play a key role in ensuring our fleet remains safe, compliant, and operational across a variety of demolition projects.
About the Role
- Reporting to the Operations Manager, your responsibilities will include:
- Servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy vehicles, plant and equipment
- Diagnosing hydraulic, mechanical and electrical faults
- Conducting preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
- Attending breakdowns and carrying out field repairs when required
- Completing maintenance records, service reports and inspection documentation
- Assisting with parts identification, procurement and inventory management
- Performing safety inspections and compliance checks
- Maintaining workshop tools, equipment and housekeeping standards
- Liaising with operators and management regarding maintenance priorities
- Supporting fleet reliability and minimising equipment downtime
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
- Current Queensland Driver Licence
- Construction Industry White Card
- Minimum 5 years post-trade experience
- Experience servicing and repairing heavy vehicles, plant and equipment
- Experience maintaining light vehicles and completing routine servicing
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Commitment to safety, quality workmanship and attention to detail
Highly Regarded
The following will be viewed favourably:
- HR, HC or MC Licence
- Experience with excavators, loaders, crushers and demolition equipment
- Welding and fabrication experience
- Auto electrical and air-conditioning diagnostic experience
- Experience working within demolition, civil construction or mining industries
