Description

Abyss Demolition is seeking an experienced Diesel Plant & Fleet Mechanic to join our team based in Loganholme, Queensland.

This is a hands-on role responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of heavy vehicles, earthmoving equipment, demolition attachments, trailers, and light vehicles. The successful applicant will play a key role in ensuring our fleet remains safe, compliant, and operational across a variety of demolition projects.


About the Role

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager, your responsibilities will include:
  • Servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy vehicles, plant and equipment
  • Diagnosing hydraulic, mechanical and electrical faults
  • Conducting preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing
  • Attending breakdowns and carrying out field repairs when required
  • Completing maintenance records, service reports and inspection documentation
  • Assisting with parts identification, procurement and inventory management
  • Performing safety inspections and compliance checks
  • Maintaining workshop tools, equipment and housekeeping standards
  • Liaising with operators and management regarding maintenance priorities
  • Supporting fleet reliability and minimising equipment downtime

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Trade qualification as a Heavy Diesel Mechanic or Heavy Vehicle Mechanic
  • Current Queensland Driver Licence
  • Construction Industry White Card
  • Minimum 5 years post-trade experience
  • Experience servicing and repairing heavy vehicles, plant and equipment
  • Experience maintaining light vehicles and completing routine servicing
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
  • Commitment to safety, quality workmanship and attention to detail

Highly Regarded

The following will be viewed favourably:

  • HR, HC or MC Licence
  • Experience with excavators, loaders, crushers and demolition equipment
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Auto electrical and air-conditioning diagnostic experience
  • Experience working within demolition, civil construction or mining industries
