THE ROLE:

Job Title: Disability Support Worker

Contract Type: Casual or Permanent may be considered

Shift Availability: Weekdays, mornings, afternoons, weeknights and weekends.

Minimum shift engagement is 2 hours, which may involve supporting participants across multiple locations.

Location: Multiple locations in the surrounding areas of Newcastle and Lake Macquarie.

Remuneration: Paid under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award (Home Care Employees), including penalty rates.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide personal support to individuals with disabilities, tasks could include:

  • Assistance with daily living tasks.
  • Personal care and hygiene.
  • Bowel care.
  • Urinary and catheter care.
  • Manual handling, transfers, hoisting.
  • Assistance with medication.
  • Community access and social participation.
  • Assist with home exercise program.
  • Domestic assistance, meal preparation.
  • Implement individualized support plans and goals in collaboration with the individual and their support team.
  • Maintain accurate records of support provided and report any concerns or incidents to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Foster positive relationships with individuals, their families, and other stakeholders.

ABOUT YOU:

  • Experience in a similar role is preferred but not required as training will be provided.
  • Passionate about providing quality person centred support.
  • Motivated with a great work ethic.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and establish trust with individuals with disabilities.
  • Compassionate and patient demeanor, with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of others.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach.
  • Capability to access web-based App for roster and communications.

  • Hold a current driver’s licence and reliable transport for travel between participants.
  • NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC).
  • National Police Check.
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC).
  • NDIS Orientation Module.
  • First Aid Certificate.
