Description

  We are seeking an Apprentice Shopfitter to join our Build Team at our Carrara HQ on the Gold Coast in a full-time capacity. The ideal candidate will act as 2IC to our Build Team Leader and play an instrumental role in the manufacture and installation of our displays, showrooms, and trade show projects. Combining hands-on, on-the-job training with off-site study through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) or TAFE, working towards a Certificate III in Shopfitting or an equivalent nationally recognised qualification. 

  

 

What You Will Be Doing: 

  • Foster a commitment to ABI Interiors’ mission, vision, and values while promoting an inclusive environment. 
  • Work collaboratively with the Build Team Lead and qualified Shopfitter to assist with shopfitting duties, including assembling shopfronts, frames, units and fittings using a range of materials such as wood, metal, glass or plastic. 
  • Assist with assembling interiors for showrooms, commercial spaces, retail displays, trade and exhibition stands and other product and/or visual merchandising displays. 
  • Under direct supervision, learn to safely set up and operate basic machine tools in accordance with WHS procedures, including drills, power saws, and drop saws. Machinery must not be operated unsupervised until competency has been assessed and approved by a qualified supervisor. 
  • Supervised travel may be required to assist with on-site installation of trade shows and exhibits from time to time. 
  • Perform day-to-day housekeeping tasks, including emptying bins, replenishing workstations, and maintaining the cleanliness of the workspace and tools. 
  • Picking and packing of goods and materials in accordance with appropriate procedures. 
  • Participate in annual company-wide stock takes. 
  • Assist the greater Warehouse Team when required. 

 

About you: 

  • Proficiency in interpreting technical documents and shop drawings, with the ability to work accurately within a defined scope of work. 
  • Strong understanding of construction techniques and materials relevant to shopfitting. 
  • Experience with CADD/CNC systems is favourable. 
  • Hold a valid driver’s licence, with a willingness to travel interstate to project sites when required. 
  • Forklift and/or heavy vehicle licences are preferred but not essential. 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments within the company.
