Description

We are seeking an amazing individual to fill the role of Women’s Advocate on a casual basis. This role is responsible for supporting women over the age of 18 who access our refuge services. This role will be based at one of our refuges located in the Southeast Corridor. Responsibilities will include case management and support, administrative duties and housekeeping.

The shifts available will include evening and weekends. You will also need to be available to attend team meetings, supervision and required training during standard business hours, both in person and online when required.

The successful applicant will be a team player, who is experienced and passionate about making a difference in the lives of women who have experienced family and domestic violence. You will be versed in working in a fast-paced environment and have a strong understanding of mental health and drug and alcohol issues.

This is a specialist FDV support role working with high-risk clients. The successful applicant will already have experience in FDV case management and crisis response.

Key Selection Criteria

1. Qualification and/or degree Community Services, Mental Health, Social Work or equivalent.

2. An ability to provide a high level of professional care and practical support to all clients.

3. A sound understanding and experience of the fields of social reform including homelessness, family and domestic violence, mental health, and drug and alcohol use.

4. An understanding of the appropriate relationship boundaries with clients and other service providers and the ability to work within the constraints of the job role.

5. Ability to complete assessments, risk assessments and safety plans.

6. Experience working in case management frameworks.

7. Competency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

8. Competency in case management software, desirable.

The successful candidate will need to provide:

• National Police Clearance Certificate – obtained in the last 6 months

• A valid driver’s licence

• A valid First Aid Certificate, desirable
