A bit about the role

The In-Work Support Mentor plays a key role in helping young people stay connected to employment after placement. Working within the Transition to Work service delivery model, you will provide tailored post-placement mentoring and employer engagement to support successful, sustainable employment outcomes.

This role is focused on building strong relationships with both young people and employers during the crucial early stages of employment. You will keep in regular contact, identify challenges early and provide practical support to help address issues before they impact a placement. Whether it is helping a young person adjust to workplace expectations, supporting communication between the employer and employee or working through barriers that may place employment at risk, your role will directly contribute to retention and long-term success.

You will also maintain accurate records, manage competing priorities and ensure all support is delivered in line with program requirements. This role would suit someone with experience in employment services who is confident engaging employers, building trust quickly and supporting young people to succeed in work.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Certificate IV in Community Services, Youth Work, Mental Health, Career Development or a related field
  • Experience in employment services, mentoring, post-placement support or employer engagement
  • Ability to build strong relationships with clients, employers and key stakeholders you
