Wunan is seeking an Assistant Accountant to work from its Head Office based in Kununurra.
About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Assistant Accountant to join our finance team based in Kununurra, WA. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their accounting career in a supportive and dynamic environment. You will assist with day-to-day financial operations and contribute to the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
Key Duties
- Assist in the preparation of monthly financial statements and reports
- Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger reconciliations
- Process accounts payable and receivable transactions
- Support payroll processing and related reconciliations
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities
- Prepare and lodge BAS/IAS (if applicable)
- Support audit processes and respond to auditor queries
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies
- Provide general administrative support to the finance team
Requirements of the Role
Essential Criteria:
- Degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 1–3 years’ experience in a similar accounting or finance role
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, XERO or Reckon)
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive attitude
Desirable (but not essential):
- Working towards CPA or CA qualification
- Experience in managing the books of a resort or hotel
- Knowledge of Australian tax regulations and compliance
