About Worthy Cause:
Worthy Cause is a social enterprise that supports vulnerable people who are overcoming severe hardship through our structured employment program. We offer them the core, interpersonal, financial and social skills they need to become employable and change their lives through a 6-month work and learning program.
Position Overview:
This role is responsible for working the front of house counter at our cafe, producing high-quality coffee, assisting with general cafe duties such as cleaning and food prep, serving customers, operating the cash register and enhancing the experience of our vulnerable participants through informal training.
Key Responsibilities:
- Producing high quality coffee and drinks
- Maintaining and cleaning the coffee machine
- Daily and weekly cleaning schedules
- Instructing and informal training of our vulnerable participants when possible
- E.g. when it’s quiet during the day
Front of House Service
- Taking orders at the cash register alongside other staff members
- Serving food from the display (no table service)
- Mostly grab and go
- Some hot food in bain marie
Beginning of Day
Start of Day set up of coffee machine and FOH area
End of Day
Cleaning of coffee machine and FOH area
Cash register closure
Employment Program
- Ensure the cafe remains a safe space, fosters learning and the betterment of our employment participants
- Maintain records in participants Competency Training Matrix relating to FOH and barista training
- Ensure participants fulfil the different program aspects correctly related to barista and FOH training
