People & Culture Officer (Temporary Contract)

Are you passionate about people, culture, and creating positive workplace experiences? We are seeking a motivated People & Culture Officer to join our team on a part time temporary basis from 29 June to 18 September 2026.

About the Role

As the People & Culture Officer, you will provide comprehensive HR support, helping deliver initiatives, systems, and policies that enhance employee experience, build capability, and foster a positive, high-performing, and values-driven workplace culture. This role has a strong focus on recruitment and onboarding.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of the employee lifecycle including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, learning and development, and offboarding
  • Lead end-to-end recruitment processes including advertising, application management, interview coordination, and candidate communication
  • Develop and maintain HR resources such as position descriptions, interview guides, and onboarding materials
  • Deliver a professional, inclusive, and positive candidate experience
  • Conduct pre-employment checks, issue contracts, and ensure compliance with onboarding requirements
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records in line with legislation and policy
  • Support employee relations matters, learning initiatives, and career pathway programs
  • Provide first-level HR advice to leaders and staff
  • Assist with audits, reporting, and documentation for compliance purposes
  • Manage exit processes, including exit interviews and related administration
  • Build respectful and collaborative relationships with team members and stakeholders
  • Contribute to organisational goals and strategy
  • Uphold and champion WLSQ’s vision and values

About You

You are an organised, proactive HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is committed to fostering a positive and inclusive workplace.

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience across the employee lifecycle in a Human Resources role
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
  • High level of discretion and professionalism when handling sensitive information
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build effective working relationships and support diverse teams
  • Proven problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, respect, and inclusion
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Commitment to working within a feminist framework
