Description

1.     PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The primary purpose of this role is to provide crisis support, intervention and case management support to victims of family violence and their families.  The Family Violence Practitioner will be responsible for delivering a 1-on-1 service working community members who have been impacted by and/or have experienced family violence.

Winda-Mara provide Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander adults, children and young people who have experienced family violence, the opportunity and support to link in with therapeutic supports and/or services with the aim of increasing safety, emotional well-being, providing a sense of empowerment and overall healing.

Winda-Mara provides a range of family violence recovery programs and additional training will be offered to the successful practitioner if not already trained in Shark Cage or Parenting After Family Violence.

Winda-Mara Family Violence Unit is both a Risk Assessment Entity (RAE) as well as an Information Sharing Entity (ISE) under the Family Violence Information Sharing Scheme (FVISS) and can accept referrals direct from our local indigenous community.
