The West Coast Eagles is an iconic Australian sporting brand with over 100,000 members. The Club formed in August 1986, playing its first official match for premiership points in 1987. Our women’s side played its first game for AFLW premiership points in February 2020. Since then, the club has enjoyed significant success, winning premierships in 1992, 1994, 2006 and 2018. The club also has
wide-spanning community and regional programs and is invested in a number of charity organisations, including the Waalitj Foundation.
About the role
The role works closely with revenue‑generating teams to provide clear, forward‑looking financial insights that support budgeting, forecasting and commercial decision‑making. With a strong analytical and predictive focus, the role helps identify revenue trends, evaluate new opportunities and maintain effective financial controls.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role will be responsible for:
- Acting as the finance partner to the Club’s revenue-generating departments including Membership, Premium Hospitality, Partnerships, Events, Matchday, Merchandise, and Fan/Customer Engagement.
- Partnering with revenue leaders to develop and manage budgets and rolling forecasts, ensuring clarity of performance, outlook and key assumptions.
- Lead and support a small team, driving high‑quality, timely outputs aligned to revenue priorities while balancing governance and control requirements.
- Translating financial information into relevant commercial implications, identifying key drivers, risks and sensitivities.
- Appling a forward-looking analytics approach to identify emerging trends, risks and opportunities across revenue streams, using evolving systems/tools and data sources.
- Overseeing revenue-related balance sheet items and inputs (including reconciliations and clearance of revenue-related clearing/suspense accounts), escalating issues where required.
- Identifying and implementing opportunities to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and scalability of revenue-related finance processes,
reporting and automation.
Due to the nature of the industry, there is a requirement to work some home match days and other club events which will include working some evenings and weekends.
Our ideal person
This role is ideal for a detail‑driven, organised finance professional with strong planning skills and a continuous improvement mindset, who can deliver decision‑ready reporting, meet critical deadlines, and enhance processes in a small‑team environment. Additionally, it would be ideal if you had:
- Strong commercial finance partnering skills, with the ability to translate financial results into clear business implications.
- Advanced analytical, forecasting and modelling capability; confidence with scenario and sensitivity analysis.
- Forward-looking mindset with ability to identify leading indicators, trends, risks and opportunities in revenue performance.
- Demonstrated experience in commercial finance / business partnering.
- Strong budgeting, rolling forecasting and revenue analytics experience, including driver-based analysis.
- Experience with revenue integrity, reconciliations and revenue-related balance sheet items is advantageous.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills; able to provide constructive challenge and influence outcomes.
- Proven leadership experience and leading outcomes in a collaborative environment is advantageous.
- Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, Commerce or a related discipline (CA/CPA preferred).
