About the role
The Strength & Conditioning Coach is responsible for delivering and supervising advanced strength and conditioning programs for the Club’s athletes. The role focuses on maximising physical performance, minimising injury risk, and preparing athletes to meet the demands of the AFL season.
Reporting to the High Performance Manager, this role will be responsible for:
- Designing, implementing and managing high-performance strength and conditioning programs for elite athletes,
- Monitoring training loads and adjusting programs to optimise performance, recovery and availability,
- Working closely with medical and rehabilitation staff to support end-stage return-to-play programs,
- Delivering non-weight bearing and alternative conditioning programs as required,
- Conducting physical testing and using data to validate and continually improve program effectiveness,
- Maintaining gym and cardiovascular equipment and supporting best-practice use of performance technology,
- Collaborating with internal stakeholders across High Performance, Medical and Football programs.
Our ideal person
This role would suit a highly motivated and technically proficient strength and conditioning professional with experience working in elite sporting environments. You will be adaptable, collaborative and comfortable working within the demands and unique hours of an AFL football program.
You will bring:
- Extensive experience programming for elite athletes
- Strong technical coaching skills, particularly in lifting technique
- High-level communication and relationship-building skills
- A strong work ethic and understanding of high-performance environments
- Experience with non-weight bearing and alternative conditioning methods
- A data-informed approach, including the ability to generate reports and translate insights into practice
- A strong understanding of contemporary training and performance literature
Qualifications and accreditation required:
- Bachelor of Applied Science (or equivalent)
- ESSA accreditation
- ASCA Level 3 (or equivalent)
