About the role
We’re looking for a hands-on and proactive Studio Assistant to support our production team and help keep our studio running smoothly behind the scenes.
This is a varied role suited to someone with a genuine interest in photography and production, who enjoys being practical, organised and involved in the day-to-day activity of a busy creative studio. From assisting with shoots and maintaining equipment to helping build and paint sets, no two projects are ever quite the same.
The ideal person will be someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, takes pride in their work, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Alongside supporting photography and video productions, this role will play an important part in preparing studio spaces, managing equipment and contributing to the overall success of production projects and studio operations.
You’ll be responsible for
Reporting to the Studio Manager, some (but not all) of the role’s responsibilities include
- Assisting Producers in coordinating shoots, schedules, equipment, and other duties.
- Providing hands-on support during shoots including the bump in and out of sets, equipment, and props.
- Managing deliveries and coordinating with couriers and vendors as needed.
- Ensuring all equipment and props are accounted for and properly maintained.
- Painting and finishing sets as required, maintaining a high standard of craftsmanship.
- Assisting in the assembly and construction of sets, including the setup of props.
- Providing general assistance to the production crew on set.
- Running errands as needed, including fetching supplies, props, and food.
- Help maintain a clean, organised and safe work environment.
Experience, skills, and expertise
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous education, experience or internships in production, studio, photography or set building .
- Has strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects.
- Has excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Has the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Exhibits creativity, attention to detail, and a strong willingness to learn.
- Has the ability to thrive in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.
- Has a solid understanding of Photoshop and Capture One.
- Has the ability to work beyond standard working hours, when needed is a requirement for this role.

- Helped build sets for the Easter and Mother’s Day campaigns.
- Assisted with billboard campaign photography.
- Assisted in a campaign video shoot.
- Joined the team on our rooftop deck for one of our agency celebrations.
- Spent time exploring the cool cafes and restaurants in South Melbourne with your colleagues.
