Summary of the role:

The Warehouse Assistant is responsible for supporting mechanical and electrical technicians in both scheduled maintenance as well as with project work as required, they are also required to work autonomously on supporting activities for the Engineering department including preparing equipment for services and cleaning while maintaining the highest safety standards. The Warehouse Assistant will also be required to assist with other warehouse functions from time to time.

The Warehouse Assistant serves as a multidisciplinary backbone for the Engineering department, seamlessly bridging the gap between high-level technical support and efficient warehouse operations. By providing critical assistance to mechanical and electrical technicians during complex maintenance and project cycles, this role ensures technical workflows remain uninterrupted. The position demands a high degree of operational autonomy, requiring a proactive professional who can take ownership of equipment preparation and sanitation while upholding rigorous safety protocols. This is a dynamic hybrid role designed for a reliable individual who thrives on variety—balancing technical support with the foundational organisation of essential warehouse functions.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Assisting warehouse supervisor with deliveries, warehouse duties including stocktake, picking of parts, raising workorders for planned work and refurbished parts, assist with adhoc requests from technicians.
  • Basic comprehension and understanding of equipment on site.
  • Engage in a positive safety culture, adhering to all Health, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures in alignment with VICTs values;
  • Accurately and promptly report any operational or health and safety concerns;
  • Ensure accurate and timely communication between all levels of employees;
  • Adhere to and maintain any direct instruction issued by the Engineering Supervisor, Warehouse Supervisor and/or Engineering Planning Manager.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • 2 years+ Experience in a warehouse environment/ similar role (eg. forklift trucks, container handling equipment, forklifts etc.) With knowledge of materials management, procurement and processes.
  • High-risk licenses including – Forklift License (desirable), Basic rigging / dogging (desirable)
  • Full unrestricted current Victorian driver’s license. (mandatory) Heavy ridged (desirable)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Software, and other company and discipline-specific software applications such as Enterprise Asset Management software such as SAP, Maximo, IFS etc.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with management, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the company.
  • Excellent work ethic.
  • Effective time management and punctuality.
