Veterinary Emergency Care Australia (VECA) is seeking a compassionate, confident Emergency Veterinarian to join our dedicated emergency and critical care team. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy solving complex cases, and value teamwork and support, we’d love to meet you.
As an Emergency Veterinarian, you will manage a wide range of urgent and critical cases, collaborate closely with experienced nurses and support staff, and deliver high-quality medicine with empathy and professionalism.
Our hospital is fully equipped with advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including:
- Siemens 32-slice CT scanner
- Digital Radiography (DR) X-ray system
- Ultrasound
- Endoscopy
- Dedicated Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
These resources allow our emergency team to deliver efficient, high-quality care for even the most complex cases.
Key Duties:
- Treat animals medically and surgically, including prescribing and giving medications, pain relief, and anaesthesia
- Advise clients on animal care, including health, nutrition, hygiene, and breeding
- Diagnose health issues through physical exams, lab tests, and imaging like X-rays and ultrasounds
- Vaccinate animals, test for infectious diseases, and report certain cases when required
- Carry out surgeries, manage wounds, and treat broken bones
- Provide care related to animal reproduction and births
- Help plan and carry out disease prevention and control measures
- Perform post-mortem exams to determine causes of death
About You
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience as a Veterinarian
- Relevant qualification in Veterinary Science or equivalent.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Confident problem-solver with a collaborative, people-focused approach
- Emergency veterinarians with the ability and confidence to perform emergency surgical procedures are strongly preferred!
This is a full-time position working 38 hours per week. As a 24/7 clinic, the role may involve a range of shifts, including evenings and weekends, with flexible scheduling available to support a balanced work-life arrangement.
Salary Range: $80,000- $130,000 base salary (dependant on experience)
