About the Role
This role delivers culturally safe, trauma-informed family and parenting support to families accessing the Family and Domestic Violence Hub. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will support families experiencing complex needs, including domestic and family violence, mental health and child protection concerns.
You will build strong, trusting relationships with parents and children, implement strengths-based support plans, and contribute to assessment, case planning and review processes. The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation, providing reports, and working collaboratively with Safety Advocates and external services to support safe and positive outcomes for families.
As this is a hands-on support role, you will also be required to undertake physical tasks as part of providing practical parenting support. This may include activities such as bathing children, lifting and carrying children, transporting children, and handling equipment such as baby capsules. These tasks are a routine part of supporting families and require safe manual handling practices.
About You
- Demonstrated experience in roles such as Family Support Worker, Parenting Practitioner, Child Care Worker, Residential Care Worker or similar
- Experience delivering evidence-informed or evidence-based parenting programs
- Experience working with Aboriginal families, applying cultural knowledge, skills and community connections
- Sound knowledge of child development, trauma, abuse, and the impacts of family and domestic violence on family functioning
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including written reporting
- Proven ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Understanding of Workplace Health and Safety requirements
- Ability to maintain accurate documentation and contribute to case planning and reviews
Desirable:
- Experience supporting families impacted by mental health, substance use, family violence, child protection and/or disability
- Familiarity with the WA Family and Domestic Violence Common Risk Assessment and Risk Management Framework
