Uplyft are seeking a qualified and experienced practitioner with a strong background in child and youth mental health, trauma-informed practice, and family-focused support.

  • Fixed Term part-time position until 30/06/2027 (22.5 hours per week Monday – Wednesday

About the Role

This role delivers early intervention mental health support to children and young people at risk of, or showing early signs of, mental health challenges. Working from a trauma-informed and child-centred approach, you will provide brief interventions, build strong therapeutic relationships, and support young people to achieve positive wellbeing outcomes.

You will deliver professional casework to children, young people, and their families, including those with complex needs, while ensuring practice aligns with service standards and funding requirements. The role also involves facilitating group activities, linking clients with appropriate services, and working collaboratively with families, carers, and external stakeholders.

As part of a supportive team, you will participate in supervision and case reviews, while maintaining a strong commitment to safeguarding, ethical practice, and workplace safety.

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Youth Work, Occupational Therapy or similar
  • Experience supporting children and young people experiencing, or at risk of, mental health challenges, including work with families
  • Strong understanding of child development, trauma-informed practice, and the impacts of intergenerational trauma (including for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities)
  • Ability to build trust and engage effectively with diverse children, young people and families using a compassionate, non-judgemental approach
  • Demonstrated experience in casework, group facilitation, and linking clients with appropriate services and supports
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively within a team
  • Commitment to reflective practice, continuous learning, and contributing positively to team culture and service improvement
