Business Development Manager

SALES • Sydney CBD, New South Wales 2000, Australia • Full-time

Description

At Unita, we build spaces where people love to work, shop, stay and connect – from high-end retail and hospitality, to health and commercial fit-outs across Australia. But great spaces don’t build themselves. Great teams do.

People have always been at the heart of what we do. From humble beginnings to national growth, our ambition has never outweighed our values. We’re fuelled by a shared passion to build better, together.

We’re looking for a Strategic Partnerships Manager (BDM) to drive intentional, sector-aligned revenue growth within your Business Unit.

This is a key growth role – shaping and protecting a high-quality pipeline that aligns with strategy, capability and margin expectations

The role

As Strategic Partnerships Manager, you’ll combine strategic business development with disciplined account management. You’ll build trusted relationships across clients and industry stakeholders, qualify opportunities with rigour, and align internal teams to pursue the right work – not just more work.

You’ll partner closely with your GM, Pre-Construction, Estimation and Delivery teams to ensure growth is deliberate, commercially sound and sustainable

What you’ll be responsible for

  • Developing and executing a Business Unit growth plan aligned to agreed sector strategy
  • Targeting and qualifying opportunities based on strategic fit, capability and margin potential
  • Building trusted relationships with clients, landlords, architects, designers and consultants
  • Facilitating early engagement to shape opportunities before formal tender
  • Aligning internal teams around priority pursuits
  • Managing and maintaining disciplined, visible pipeline reporting through HubSpot
  • Leading structured client feedback processes and converting insights into action
  • Supporting commercial positioning and successful conversion alongside your GM

What great looks like

  • Pipeline is targeted, intentional and aligned to sector strategy
  • Opportunities pursued reflect Unita’s capability, capacity and margin expectations
  • Key relationships are strategically prioritised and actively nurtured
  • Revenue targets are achieved through disciplined, strategic activity
  • Stakeholder experience is protected through strong internal collaboration
  • Your Business Unit contributes meaningfully to national accounts and cross-state opportunities

Who this role suits

  • Proactive and growth-oriented – you generate momentum and move conversations toward action
  • Commercially grounded – you understand revenue, margin and financial drivers
  • Curious and quick to learn – you seek to deeply understand our capability and delivery model
  • Structured and accountable – you keep CRM, reporting and pipeline clean and visible
  • Confident communicating with senior stakeholders
  • Collaborative – you work closely with Delivery and Pre-Construction to protect the client experience
  • Naturally aligned to the Unita Way – you take responsibility, work well with others, and look for better ways of doing things

Experience we’re looking for

  • Experience in business development, strategic partnerships or account management
  • Construction, fitout, D&C or related industry experience is advantageous
  • Demonstrated ability to grasp technical concepts and translate them into client-facing value
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage pipeline and reporting
  • Strong stakeholder engagement capability across multiple levels
  • Driver’s licence (mandatory)
