About the role
We are seeking a Conservation Project Officer to support the delivery of conservation projects across the South Central region, based in our Melbourne CBD office.
This role is essential to the delivery of multiple conservation projects across South Central Victoria and contributes to meaningful on ground outcomes. Familiarity with conservation and land management principles is required to provide guidance and undertake project activities.
In this role you will proactively engage with partners and landholders regarding project delivery, conduct monitoring, spatial mapping and work with contractors to undertake on-ground project activities.

The role involves regular travel across Victoria. South Central Victoria encompasses the Greater Melbourne region including the Corangamite and Port Phillip & Westernport Catchments.
What’s on offer
This is a full‑time (1.0 FTE) fixed term contract for two years.
The role offers an annual salary range of $71,117 – $76,083 plus 12% super. The salary offered will be aligned with the candidates’ experience.
The role operates in a hybrid model, with a blend of work from home, face‑to‑face days and field work. Regular travel throughout South Central Victoria is a core part of the role. A driver’s licence is required.
About you
We are searching for someone who is passionate about conservation who is looking to grow their career in the Environmental sector. The successful candidate will bring;
- At least 1 year of experience working in the environmental sector
- Degree in environmental science, natural resource management, or similar/ relevant experience
- Understanding of conservation principles and practices, including legislation, and knowledge of Victorian Ecological Vegetation Classes, flora and fauna.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including understanding of contractor management, budgets, and report writing.
- Experience mapping spatial mapping and GIS.
- A current driver’s licence and willingness to travel as required
