Assistant in Nursing – Casual Position
As an Assistant in Nursing (AIN) you’ll provide safe, respectful, and person-centred care to people in their homes, supported accommodation, or in the community. You’ll support a range of individuals including;
- NDIS funded participants in line with care plans, policies, and legislation
- The Older Person at home in line with the Aged Care Quality Standards
- Members of community who require care and support

Geographical areas of support include; Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland and Hunter Valley.

Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver quality care and support tailored to each person’s needs.
- Work within your scope of practice professionally and responsibly.
- Respect and protect participant privacy at all times.
- Review handover notes or care documentation at the start of every shift.
- Plan and prioritise tasks in consultation with your clinical supervisor.
- Follow infection control and safe practice procedures.
- Communicate any health or behavioural changes to the Registered Nurse or Team Leader.
- Work respectfully with participants from diverse backgrounds.
- Use resources wisely and contribute to team success.
What You Need:
A qualification (any of the following):
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Home & Community or ‘Disability’ Specialisation)
- Certificate III or IV in Aged Care or Disability
- Valid Drivers License and Vehicle
Plus:
- Great communication and people skills.
- Commitment to person-centred and evidence-based care.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and assertiveness.
- Recent relevant clinical experience and a commitment to quality care.
- Valid National Criminal Record Check and Working with Children Check.
- Completion of the NDIS Worker Orientation Module (for disability support work).
- Willingness to comply with NSW Health vaccination policies.
Important to Know
- You will be rostered to work on split (shorter) shifts at different locations
- You must follow all safety, quality, and privacy policies.
- This job may involve physical tasks like lifting, bending, and moving.
- You’ll be supported with regular check-ins, performance reviews, and training opportunities.
- Before starting, you must disclose any previous injuries or incidents involving misconduct or neglect.
