The Position
We’re looking for a Cloud Engineer to join our Infrastructure & Security team. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the design, reliability, security, and continuous improvement of Tiimely’s infrastructure across AWS, Azure, and on-premises environments.
This is a role that spans both strategic and operational dimensions. You’ll contribute to cloud strategy and architectural decisions, design scalable and secure solutions, and maintain and improve Infrastructure-as-Code. At the same time, you’ll be hands-on with day-to-day infrastructure health, monitoring, incident response, and security ensuring the platform stays available and performant.
Our platform processes real credit applications in a regulated financial services context understanding how infrastructure reliability, cost management, and security posture support lending workflows, compliance requirements, and operational resilience is part of what makes this role distinctive.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Contribute to cloud strategies aligned with business objectives, guiding stakeholders on best practices and planning workload migrations.
- Design and architect scalable, secure, and reliable cloud solutions, and maintain architecture documentation including system diagrams and technical specifications.
- Implement and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code using CloudFormation and Terraform for consistent, repeatable, and auditable infrastructure provisioning.
- Maintain the health and reliability of AWS infrastructure across multiple accounts and environments, including VPC, EC2, ECS, RDS, S3, Route 53, CloudFront, and ALB.
- Manage hybrid-cloud connectivity across AWS, Azure, and on-premises environments, including VPN configurations.
- Optimise cloud costs by selecting appropriate resources, monitoring usage, and implementing cost management practices.
- Configure, maintain, and improve monitoring and observability platforms including Datadog and CloudWatch to ensure infrastructure health is visible and actionable.
- Implement and maintain security controls including least-privilege access, WAF, Meraki firewall, GuardDuty, and AWS Config aligned with regulatory requirements.
- Manage and triage incidents as part of the on-call rotation, including stakeholder communication, resolution coordination, and post-incident review.
- Design and implement disaster recovery and high-availability solutions, and manage backup strategies with regular testing across environments.
- Support and maintain Windows Server, Active Directory, and Azure AD / Entra ID environments.
- Work closely with software engineers, data engineers, architects, and product teams to ensure infrastructure supports evolving platform needs.
- Maintain and improve runbooks and operational documentation, and identify opportunities to automate processes and reduce operational toil.
- Provide Level 3 technical support and resolution for infrastructure-related requests and incidents.
What We’re Looking For
Required
- Demonstrated experience in cloud engineering, infrastructure operations, or systems administration.
- Deep hands-on experience with AWS services including: VPC, Route 53, CloudFront, ALB/NLB, Transit Gateway, VPN (networking); EC2, ECS, Lambda, Auto Scaling (compute); S3, RDS, Secrets Manager, EFS (storage and data); IAM, SCPs, GuardDuty, AWS Config, WAF (security).
- Solid experience with Infrastructure-as-Code, particularly CloudFormation and Terraform.
- Demonstrated ability to design and architect scalable, secure cloud solutions aligned with business requirements.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting capability and the ability to remain calm and methodical under pressure.
- Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, and Azure AD / Entra ID.
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain infrastructure concepts and incident status to non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
- Exposure to on-premises infrastructure including VMware/ESXi, Meraki, NAS, and UPS.
- Experience with Azure Cloud infrastructure.
- Familiarity with Datadog or other enterprise monitoring and observability platforms.
- Familiarity with Veeam Backup and Replication or other enterprise backup tools.
- Familiarity with database operations, including maintenance of RDS MS SQL, MongoDB Atlas, or Redshift.
- Experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to enhance infrastructure engineering productivity, automation, or problem-solving.
- Relevant AWS certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator, or DevOps Engineer).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and GitHub CI.
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Shell, or PowerShell for automation.
- Experience with containerisation tools such as Docker and orchestration platforms such as ECS on Fargate.
