An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Insurance Lawyer to join our Professional Indemnity team.
Working closely with experienced Professional Indemnity lawyers, you will be immersed in a dynamic blend of insurance litigation matters and provide high level advice and representation which is practical, commercial and addresses the needs of clients.
Responsibilities:
Under the guidance of senior lawyers, you will:
- Analyse matters and consult with clients under direction of the Partner.
- Assist with litigation and file management in a proactive and cost-effective manner.
- Assist with the provision of written and telephone legal advice to clients.
- Develop strategic negotiation and dispute resolution skills.
- Effectively manage client relationships, gaining a sound understanding of their needs.
- Attend professional conferences.
- Assist with preparing and presenting internal CPD seminars and accompanying papers.
- Assist with the preparation of tenders to clients.
- Conduct research on matters and applicable precedents.
- Meet and aim to exceed set targets for billable hours.
- Any other duties as reasonably directed.
Qualifications:
To excel in this role, you will have:
- 1-3 years’ experience in defendant insurance litigation, preferably professional indemnity, or public liability.
- Experience in legal drafting and the interpretation of insurance policies.
- Experience in file load management.
- Strong research and analysis skills and ability to apply critical thinking.
- Demonstrated experience in a highly focused client service environment with exposure working with insureds and insured’s clients.
- A current QLD practicing certificate.
- Demonstrated skills in Microsoft Office Suite and document management systems.
