The Opportunity

The Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner will be experienced in delivering behaviour support services and have solid clinical practice and knowledge of the NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Commission and restrictive practices.
The Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner is responsible for leading, developing, evaluating and implementing positive behaviour support plans in conjunction with relevant legislation and client goals, building strong and trusted relationships with participants, key stakeholders and staff, participating as a member of the Thrive House team.
You will be responsible for monitoring staff training and professional development including the identification of training needs and establishing an ongoing program of training and professional development as required regarding the implementation of PBSP’s.
Key Duties
- Critically examine and improve work practices within the designated programs and lead change and quality improvement initiatives.
- Develop, write and implement positive behaviour support plans
- Develop and review program operating procedures and policies
- Ensure statistics and relevant records are maintained
- Participation in forums/networks in relation to our service users
- Ensure compliance with WH&S policies and procedures.
Essential Requirements
- Degree qualifications desirable in Human Services, Psychology or Social and Behavioural sciences. Diploma accepted.
- Must be a registered NDIS Behaviour Support Practitioner.
- A passion for working with people with disability or trauma and specifically supporting behaviours of concern.
- Professional experience relevant to service provision for persons living with a disability, their families and key stakeholders.
- Experience and knowledge of challenging behaviours, intellectual disability and trauma.
- Current knowledge of clinical best practice and restrictive practices.
- Well-developed knowledge of person-centred approaches.
- Experience in the discipline of service provision.
- Current Positive Notice (Blue Card) for Child Related Employment issued by The Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian or willing to obtain.
- Eligibility to gain a successful suitability check through the Department of Communities (Child Safety Services) (LCS-2).
- Current Working with Disabilities (yellow card) check as required or willing to obtain.
- Current Open QLD driver’s licence (reasonable adjustments will be made for stable medical conditions which allow the inherent requirements of the role to be performed safely).
