Our South Australian Therapeutic Services team delivers specialist Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) and Mental Health services designed to meet the unique needs of LGBTIQ+ communities.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate practitioner to join our Adelaide team as an AOD Counsellor & Care and Recovery Coordinator.

This role combines AOD counselling and care coordination to support LGBTIQ+ people aged 16 years and over experiencing alcohol and other drug-related challenges.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will provide assessments, counselling, treatment planning, care coordination and recovery support using person-centred, trauma-informed and recovery-oriented approaches.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

Counselling and Therapeutic Support

  • Deliver evidence-based AOD counselling to individuals, families and groups.
  • Develop treatment plans, facilitate brief interventions and support relapse prevention.
  • Apply contemporary therapeutic approaches to support client recovery goals.
  • Contribute to clinical reviews and multidisciplinary care planning.

Care and Recovery Coordination

  • Conduct assessments and develop integrated care plans.
  • Coordinate care for clients with complex needs and facilitate referrals.
  • Advocate for clients and support access to health, housing and community services.
  • Build partnerships to ensure coordinated and effective care.

About you

You will have a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology or a related discipline, as well as:

  • Experience in AOD counselling, case management and/or care coordination.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based therapeutic interventions and recovery-oriented practice.
  • Experience conducting assessments, treatment planning and risk management.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and interagency collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to harm minimisation and trauma-informed practice.
  • Current South Australian Driver’s Licence.
  • Ability to work respectfully and effectively with LGBTIQ+ communities.
