About the Hotel

Join an iconic Melbourne landmark. The Hotel Windsor is a treasured heritage property, renowned for its Victorian architecture, intricate detailing, and rich history. We are seeking a skilled Painter / Duty Technician to help preserve the beauty of our building while supporting day to day maintenance operations.

About the Role

This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, works confidently with a wide range of paint colours and finishes, and understands the unique challenges of maintaining a heritage environment. You will be responsible for painting, touch ups, minor repairs, and general duty technician tasks across guest rooms, public areas, and back of house spaces.

Please note: as the Hotel operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, your roster will include some weekend and public holiday shifts as required. Rostered hours will generally fall between 7:00am and 7:00pm; however, these may vary from time to time in line with business and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out painting, patching, and surface preparation using heritage appropriate colours and materials
  • Maintain and restore decorative finishes while respecting the building’s historical character
  • Perform general maintenance and duty technician tasks as required
  • Manage time effectively to complete work around guest movements, events, and hotel operations
  • Ensure all work areas are kept clean, safe, and guest ready
  • Follow strict health and safety procedures, including working at heights, chemical handling, and equipment use
  • Communicate with the Maintenance Manager and wider team to prioritise tasks and minimise disruption to guests
  • Assist with emergency maintenance requests when needed

About You

  • Experience as a painter, maintenance technician, or similar trade role
  • Strong understanding of colour matching, surface preparation, and finishing techniques
  • Ability to work efficiently in a live hotel environment with guests constantly moving through the building
  • Excellent time management and problem solving skills
  • Commitment to high safety standards and safe work practices
  • Respect for heritage buildings and attention to detail
  • Positive attitude and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Available to carry out additional work at any time, depending on job requirements
