Salary: $200k-$220k base per annum

XDI is part of The Climate Risk Group. Across the group, we have around 50 team members based in Australia and Europe.

The Role

In this newly created position, the Managing Director – XDI (Cross Dependency Initiative) will be the architect of the company’s SaaS transformation and growth engine. They will be responsible for defining and executing a scalable, product-driven strategy that delivers both commercial success and social impact.

The Managing Director will partner with the CEO/Founder, and other specialist leaders in product, technology, commercial, operations and finance to align our business model and objectives with the company’s mission and theory of change. Through leadership, disciplined financial stewardship, and a commitment to empowered teams and collaboration, they will position the organisation for rapid and sustained growth, a differentiated market contribution, and decisive impact towards avoiding climate harm.

Key Accountabilities

  • Co-develop and champion the company strategy, ensuring it is scalable, product-driven, commercially strong, and mission-aligned.
  • Lead the transition to a scalable SaaS business model, driving growth, operational efficiency, and financial discipline.
  • Set and steer the go-to-market strategy, driving strong product–market fit, customer retention, clear differentiation, and timely market pivots.
  • Drive revenue growth and profitability through productisation, market expansion, and innovation in technology, products, and business models.
  • Own and execute financial strategy, including planning, funding, and decision-making frameworks, to enable long-term resilience and growth.
  • Approve company-wide goals, metrics, pricing strategies, and significant strategic changes to ensure market competitiveness and investor confidence.
  • Align business operations with social and environmental impact objectives while safeguarding profitability and financial stability.
  • Build and lead a high-performing executive team, fostering accountability, collaboration, innovation, and empowered decision-making.
  • Nurture and strengthen our values-led culture, recognising contributions and reinforcing shared purpose and commitment.
  • Uphold data-informed decision-making across the organisation through strong metrics, reporting, and analytics.
  • Partner closely with Product, Technology, Operations, and People & Culture to prioritise scalable offerings, strengthen governance, and build organisational capacity.
  • Champion cross-functional collaboration, knowledge sharing, and change management to support strategic delivery.
  • Support the CEO/Founder in promoting impact strategy, innovation, and alignment with the company’s mission.
  • Continuously evolve the business model and operating approach to maximise growth, impact, and organisational effectiveness.

Capabilities Required

  • Proven ability to grow companies through scale-up phases, including transitioning from sales-led to product-led or hybrid operating models.
  • Full accountability for revenue, margin, and financial performance, with strong financial acumen and a demonstrated ability to use commercial levers (pricing, cost discipline, and productisation) to improve profitability.
  • Strategic thinker and operator who defines and delivers strategy, aligning go-to-market, customer growth, and retention with measurable outcomes.
  • Track record of driving cultural transformation in fast-paced environments, aligning cross-functional teams, building scalable structures, and prioritising high-impact initiatives.
  • Inspirational, accessible, and trusted leader who balances empathy with performance, communicates with clarity, navigates complexity with decisiveness, and builds high-performing, values-aligned cultures through change.
  • Experience with funding strategy and capital planning (equity, debt, and hybrid approaches) through growth phases. would be nice to have.
  • Deep commitment to aligning commercial objectives with social mission and long-term social and environmental impact.
