Australia (4-months Fixed Term Contract, 4 or 5 days per week, starting immediately)
About us
XDI (Cross Dependency Initiative) is a specialist, mission-led physical climate risk analytics company, focused on changing how climate risk is understood, valued and acted on by the institutions that shape the global economy.
Established in 2007, XDI is the world’s longest-standing independent specialist in physical climate risk and adaptation analytics, and is recognised as a global leader in the Forrester Wave™: Climate Risk Analytics Software (2025) and the 2024 Verdantic Smart Innovator report. We translate climate risk into financially decision-useful intelligence, enabling decision-makers to plan for resilience and adaptation, and to redirect capital away from high-risk, high-emission activities toward a low-carbon, climate-resilient economy. Our clients include major banks, investors, asset owners and governments around the world, and we increasingly partner with academic institutions and NGOs to help deliver our impact goals.
XDI is part of The Climate Risk Group. Across the group, we have around 50 team members based in Australia and Europe.
This is a fixed-term position for 4 months, located in Australia (hybrid or remote working), starting immediately.
The Role
Our Web Services product team owns the design and development of our self-service portal (XDI Hub) that enables our resellers and commercial customers to access human-readable results, to scale the volume of sales, and provide sector-relevant insights with reliable climate risk information, empowering users to make climate-forward decisions for the planet.
As a Developer, you will bring your extensive experience in web application and software development best practices, working closely with our Product Manager to implement product designs efficiently and effectively. You will be responsible for building scalable products capable of supporting future growth plans, not only developing software solutions but also managing the technical roadmap, ensuring product performance and security, and collaborating with various stakeholders (including Climate Scientists and Data Specialists) to deliver a seamless user experience.

- Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams, facilitating productive, outcome-focused discussions and contributing to solution design and delivery in a cross-functional environment.
Commercial Report & PDF Development Expertise
As a key focus of this role involves the development of automated, client-facing PDF reports, candidates will bring strong commercial design and document-rendering experience, including:
-
PDF Generation & Document Rendering
Experience generating high-quality PDFs from web applications using tools such as Puppeteer, jsPDF, React PDF, or similar technologies. Ability to translate UI designs into structured, print-ready documents, with a strong understanding of pagination, layout constraints, and responsive rendering for PDF outputs.
-
Data Visualisation
Experience integrating charts and visualisations into reports using libraries such as Chart.js, Recharts, or D3. Ability to ensure data visualisations render accurately and consistently across both interactive and static export formats.
-
UI/UX & Design Implementation
Strong eye for visual detail and polished presentation, with the ability to deliver high-quality, client-facing report experiences. Experience working within established design systems and collaborating closely with designers to implement intuitive and visually consistent interfaces.
-
Styling & Layout Expertise
Advanced CSS capabilities, including Flexbox and Grid, with experience designing for both screen and print contexts. Familiarity with maintaining design consistency across digital and exported formats, particularly web-to-PDF workflows.
-
Data Handling & Transformation
Ability to work effectively with structured data sources, including JSON and API responses, and transform complex datasets into report-ready outputs and visual narratives.
-
