The Opportunity:

We are looking for a Head of Partnerships & Experiences to lead our partnership portfolio during a 12‑month maternity leave cover from August. In this senior role, you will shape the strategy, optimisation and activation of major sponsorships, helping brands maximise the value of their investments through sophisticated partnership frameworks and integrated experience design. Reporting directly into the Managing Director – Australia, you will steer the commercial direction of the Partnerships & Experiences team, guiding them to deliver best‑in‑class activations that elevate brand outcomes, drive measurable results and strengthen Wildcard’s position as a creative‑led partnership agency.

You’ll

  • Lead the development of end‑to‑end commercial partnership and sponsorship strategies, including partnership frameworks, and leverage planning and measurement.
  • Translate client briefs and RFPs into clear strategic recommendations and pathways that align to client objectives
  • Negotiate value‑driven outcomes aligned to client outcomes.
  • Act as the senior partnership advisor for key clients, managing escalation and ensuring programs deliver measurable impact.
  • Proactively drive new business opportunities, identify new prospects and convert leads into commercially strong sponsorship solutions.
  • Own financial performance across the partnership portfolio, including forecasting, margin management and delivery against revenue and broader commercial targets, while contributing to annual budgets.
  • Lead, mentor and develop the Partnerships & Experiences team, setting clear KPIs and fostering a collaborative, commercially minded and creatively progressive culture.
  • Oversee workflow management, resourcing and overservicing control across all partnership accounts to ensure operational excellence and efficient delivery.
  • Champion innovation and creative problem solving, anticipating future trends and pioneering new partnership and experiential approaches for the industry. 

What we’re looking for

  • Extensive experience in marketing, brand management and sponsorship within sport or sports culture, with a deep understanding of the Australian commercial sports landscape.
  • Proven expertise in leading partnership and sponsorship strategy, including partnership frameworks, leverage planning, measurement and long‑term commercial growth.
  • Strong commercial acumen with a track record of delivering revenue and margin targets and confidently owning budgets and financial performance.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including building, mentoring and developing high‑performing teams and fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability and creativity.
  • Highly developed communication and influencing skills, with the ability to act as a persuasive storyteller and trusted advisor to senior stakeholders.
  • A strategic, innovative mindset with the ability to connect creative, cultural and business intelligence
  • A passion for sport and pushing the boundaries of partnership and experiential marketing.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Sports Management, Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or a related discipline.
