It’s a once-in-a-generation chance to make history, working with our list and recruiting team in 2026, but also playing a key role in the development of the inaugural Tasmania Devils AFL program.

The Tasmania Football Club (TFC) is more than a football team. It’s a statewide movement backed by 211,000 founding members and generations of footy fans. As the National Recruiting Co-Ordinator of the Tasmania Devils, you won’t just help select players; you’ll help shape the spirit and identity of an entire state on the national stage.

Key Role Responsibilities

  • Scout and identify talent in games including AFL Academy & National Championships, U18 Male competitions around Australia including schoolboys and senior state leagues.
  • Prepare videos of junior talent pathway players along with supporting analysis and assessment reports.
  • Inform the club’s preparation and execution of the AFL National Draft, AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft, and other player acquisition windows.
  • Apply a data-driven approach using software and analysis platforms (Sportscode, Scout, Hudl) to assess and compare player performance.
  • Co-ordinate the organisation and administration of player interviews including AFL compliance.
  • Co-ordinate the data input and maintenance of specialist recruiting programs ensuring the most up to date and accurate data is available.
  • Manage the maintenance of game schedules and scout allocations
  • Build and maintain strong networks with player agents, talent managers, state leagues, schools, and AFL clubs

What You Bring

  • Recruitment Experience: Minimum 2 years in AFL and AFLW recruiting and list management, including National Draft, AFLW Draft, and Mid-Season Rookie Draft involvement or Talent Pathway programs.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency with Sportscode, Hudl, and other recruiting technologies; advanced skills in data analysis and reporting.
  • Pathway Insights: Strong knowledge of talent pathways in SA, VIC, WA and TAS, with well-established APS/School football connections.
  • Stakeholder Relationships: Extensive, established networks with player managers, AFL clubs, talent managers, and pathway programs.
  • International & Academy Talent: Previous experience recruiting international players (e.g., Irish) and NGA and/or Academy players.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to balance immediate list needs with long-term recruitment strategies.
  • Industry Knowledge: Comprehensive understanding of AFL/AFLW competition structures, draft regulations, and player contracting processes.

The Fine Print

  • Commencing in March 2026.
  • Your initial contract of employment will span a two-year period, covering AFL Seasons 2026 and 2027 inclusive.
  • Salary Range $70 – $90K + superannuation.
  • You will be based at our MSAC offices with opportunity to work from home regularly.
  • There will be regular occasions where you are required to travel both to Tasmania and other regions as part of this role.
  • The role will report to the Head of Recruiting, whilst working collaboratively also with the Head of List Management and Strategy.
