Finance Business Partner / Financial Accountant

Bellerive, Tasmania 7018, Australia • Full-time

Role Type

On-site • Permanent • Full-time • Mid-level Senior

Description

Tasmanian Oyster Co (TOC for short) is committed to being the leader in sustainable oyster production, striving for best practice and continuous improvement in the management of the environment in which we operate.

We’re now looking for a Finance Business Partner / Financial Accountant to join our small but dedicated team, supporting our Chief Financial Officer to manage accounting and financial processes, ensuring compliance and appropriate governance

The Role

We’re proud of our world-class product, our commitment to safety and the environment, and the hardworking people behind it all. This role is about making sure the numbers, systems and insights behind the business are just as strong and are able to deliver on strategic goals.

As our Finance Business Partner / Financial Accountant, you’ll work closely with the CFO and operational leaders to provide clear, accurate and timely financial information that supports good decision-making. From month-end reporting and budgeting through to dashboards and financial analysis, you’ll play a key role in keeping the business on track.

You’ll also support the day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable and receivable, statutory reporting, fixed assets and audit support. Just as importantly, you’ll partner with hatchery, farm and regional managers to help them understand their numbers, track performance, and improve financial and operational outcomes.

This is a genuinely varied, hands-on role where you’ll have visibility and impact across the business. No two days will be the same.

About You

You’re a qualified and experienced accountant who enjoys being close to the business and using numbers to tell a story. You’re comfortable working across both the detail and the bigger picture, and you enjoy working with non-finance people to help them understand what the numbers really mean.

You’ll bring:

  • A degree in Accounting, Finance or similar, with CA, CPA or equivalent (or working towards)
  • 2–4 years’ experience in an accounting or management accounting role
  • Strong skills in financial and management reporting, forecasting and analysis
  • Experience with systems such as Xero, Excel and Power BI
  • Proven experience developing Power BI dashboards, including data modelling and integration across multiple data sources
  • A practical, organised approach with strong attention to detail
  • The ability to build relationships and work collaboratively across the business
  • A current driver’s licence and willingness to visit operational sites when required

Experience in an operational, manufacturing, marine or aquaculture environment will be highly regarded.

Benefits

  • Play a key role in a respected and growing aquaculture business
  • Office based in Bellerive with easy access to free parking
  • Exposure to all parts of the business, from finance to farm operations
  • Supportive, collaborative team and approachable leadership
