Description

Position Summary

Tangentyere Council Aboriginal Corporation (TCAC) is a community controlled Public Benevolent Institution delivering human services and social enterprise activities for the benefit of Aboriginal people from the Alice Springs Town Camps, urban Alice Springs, and Central Australia.

Tangentyere Employment Services (TES) delivers the Remote Australia Employment Service (RAES) for Alice Springs Town Camps, outstations in the region, and Amoonguna, and the Municipal and Essential Services program which undertakes required services for common areas across all Alice Springs Town Camps.

The position is responsible for providing culturally sensitive and practical day to day support to Jobseekers engaged with Tangentyere Employment Services (TES). The role assists Jobseekers to participate in employment related activities by facilitating referrals, engagement, transport to and from appointments, and timely follow up on non-attendance. Working across TES, the CLO contributes to meeting performance outcomes by supporting Case Managers, Administration and Management with daily operational tasks and Jobseeker engagement needs. The position plays also plays an important frontline role in service delivery by maintaining accurate jobseeker records within ECSN and supporting the Remote Australia Employment Services (RAES) program.

As part of your role, you will be working with children, people with a disability and people who are vulnerable. It is your obligation to always ensure their safety and report any concerns in line with our duty of care obligations. We have zero tolerance when it comes to abuse of any kind and will take disciplinary action, including and up to termination of employment, should we determine that abuse has taken place or there has been a failure to report any suspected or alleged abuse.

Responsibilities

  • ·       Provide support to Employment Services Team.
  • ·       Support and engage Jobseekers.
  • ·       Maintain accurate records.
  • ·Maintain Tangentyere Council vehicles.
  • ·Assist with achieving quality management objectives across the organisation.
  • ·Assist with achieving safeguarding objectives across the organisation.
  • ·Assist with achieving compliance objectives across the organisation.
  • ·Other reasonable duties as required.

Qualifications and Selection Criteria

Required

  • ·Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
  • ·Reliable, punctual, and be able to maintain professional conduct at all times.
  • ·Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • ·       Good organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to provide accurate records.
  • ·       Ability to use email and web‑based applications.
  • ·       Ability to work cooperatively in a cross‑cultural environment and maintain positive working relationships.
  • ·Ability to provide operational support across all employment services teams.
  • ·Current NT Drivers Licence, NT Working with Children (Ochre) Card, satisfactory Police Check, and proof of full (3) vaccination against COVID-19.

Desired

  • ·Experience working in and knowledge of Employment Services Industry Systems.
  • ·Current First Aid Certificate, or ability and willingness to attain.
  • ·An understanding of Aboriginal culture as well as a broad range of contemporary issues affecting Central Australian Aboriginal people.
