The Transport Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of transport operations, ensuring the efficient movement of goods and materials. This role involves coordinating transport schedules, supervising drivers, monitoring compliance, and ensuring operational efficiency. The position requires strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to maintain high transport service standards.
What you will be doing…
- Supervise and support the transport team to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Oversee scheduling, routing and allocation of vehicles and drivers.
- Assist in scheduling, routing and allocation of vehicles and drivers when the business requires.
- Ensure drivers adhere to safety regulations, traffic laws, and company policies.
- Maintain effective communication with customers, stakeholders, and internal teams to address operational needs.
- Monitor and review driver logs, vehicle inspections, fuel usage, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate maintenance and repairs for the fleet to ensure operational readiness.
- Assist in resolving transport-related issues and implementing solutions to improve efficiency.
- Provide training and guidance to drivers on safety protocols and operational procedures.
- Prepare and analyse reports on transport operations, including performance metrics and cost analysis.
- Monitoring transport costs and financial performance, implementing cost-saving measures where possible.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless coordination of transport services.
- Actively lead and promote a culture of continuous improvement.
Do you have…
- Previous experience working in a Transport Operations Supervisor role in the Transport industry (ideally line haul experience), or equivalent experience.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and professionally across departments.
