The South West Aboriginal Medical Service (SWAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service based in Bunbury which provides a variety of health services to Aboriginal people in the South West, Great South, Upper Wheatbelt and Peel Regions of Western Australia. SWAMS delivers a wide range of services including: GP Clinics, Primary Health Care, Counselling, and Mental Health. SWAMS has a strong growth strategy through partnership opportunities and future community development.
SWAMS plays a crucial role in delivering services to the South West community, aiming to reduce the number of Aboriginal children entering care. By providing culturally appropriate services to at-risk families in partnership with Key Assets Australia, we are deeply committed to advocating for the safety of Aboriginal children, ensuring they remain at home with their families. We are looking for a Case Worker to be a part of our Out of Home Care program.
SWAMS is now currently recruiting a Full-time Case Worker in the Out of Home Care program. They will work intensively with referred families, building positive relationships to address issues and support families in exiting the service with resolved issues.
About You:
- Knowledge of the Children and Community Services Act 2004.
- Basic knowledge of developmental needs of children and young people.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and contemporary issues affecting Aboriginal People, and the ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with communities, families, children and young people.
- Strong written skills, including report writing.
- Demonstrated ability to manage own time and work resources.
- Ability to work effectively as a team member.
- Ability to liaise with relevant government and non-government professionals, community groups, services, and agencies and present and report information to internal and external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated research, analytical and problem-solving skills, in relation to case management.
Essential Criteria:
- Valid and current Western Australian Driver’s License
- Satisfactory National Police Clearance
- Valid Western Australian Working with Children Check
Desirable Criteria:
- Qualification/Certificate in the area of Education or similar, or equivalent experience.
