Description

Content Creator and Social Media Coordinator

One day you’re filming in a helicopter. The next, you’re at a Nippers carnival capturing the joy on a kid’s face learning to be water safe. Then you’re flying north to document lifesavers in remote communities. No two days the same. No boring desk. Just incredible stories that need to be told.

If You’re Obsessed with Content That Performs

You understand TikTok algorithms. You know what makes people stop scrolling. You’ve studied what works on Instagram Reels, Facebook, and YouTube. You can feel when a video has that ‘share’ quality. You’re the person who can spot a trend on TikTok and instantly understand how to adapt it for your audience.

You’re exceptional at filming and editing. Your portfolio speaks for itself—strong cinematography, emotional storytelling, technical skill with editing software, and an eye for what’s beautiful and what’s honest.

You’re creative, outgoing, and adventurous. You don’t just want to create content. You want to bring a story to life. You want to work with something that matters.

Then This is For You

We’re Surf Life Saving Queensland—one of Australia’s most recognised not-for-profit organisations. We keep people safe in Queensland’s waters. We run clubs. We train lifesavers. We develop young Nippers into confident water-safe leaders. We champion our community and member wellbeing. We do real work that matters.

And we need a Content Creator who can bring all of that to life visually.

What You’ll Actually Do

  • Create TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook, and YouTube content that stops people mid-scroll. Short-form, long-form, storytelling, education, inspiration—whatever works
  • Film in the field. At beaches. At clubs. At rescue operations. During training. Capture authentic moments that feel real, not staged.
  • Edit like a pro. Use Adobe Premiere, DaVinci Resolve, CapCut—whatever you’re skilled with. Fast cuts. Strong hooks. Emotional beats. Technical excellence
  • Develop content ideas that align with our campaigns and messaging. Stay ahead of trends. Suggest ideas. Push boundaries.
  • Support in the management our social channels with consistency. Plan. Schedule. Engage. Build community.
  • Travel regularly across Queensland. Brisbane, Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, North Queensland. You’re mobile and ready to chase the story.
  • Collaborate with teams across SLSQ to find the best stories and opportunities. Membership. Marketing. Clubs. Youth programs. Emergency response. Everyone has stories.
  • Analyse what works. Look at metrics. Learn from engagement. Refine constantly.

What We’re Looking For

Must Have Skills:

  • Excellent photography and videography skills.
  • Proficiency in video editing software. Adobe Creative Suite preferred, but DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut, or equivalent works
  • Deep understanding of social media algorithms and platform trends. You live on TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook
  • Ability to tell stories that land emotionally
  • Comfort filming with iPhone or on-camera tools. Fast learner. Adaptable
  • Flexibility to regularly travel across Queensland and work occasional evenings and weekends depending on events.
  • Current Working with Children Blue Card (or the ability to obtain one).
  • Current driver’s license

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience managing social media channels or content calendars.
  • Background in health, community, or not-for-profit spaces.
  • Interest in water safety, lifesaving, or emergency response.
  • Experience with longer-form video or mini-documentaries.

Who You Are

  • Creative and proactive. You bring ideas. You don’t wait to be told what to do.
  • Curious. You want to understand the stories, meet the people, and get it right.
  • Energetic and adventurous. Field work? Travel? Early starts? Unpredictable conditions? You’re in!
  • Collaborative. You work well with teams, take feedback, iterate.
  • Organised but flexible. You juggle multiple projects and adapt when plans change.
  • Early-career to mid-career professional. You care about purpose as much as platform growth.

Why Work With SLSQ

  • Work with an iconic Australian organisation. 58+ clubs. Hundreds of thousands of Queenslanders reached every year.
  • Access to incredible, real stories. Rescue operations. Volunteer communities. Youth programs. Human impact.
  • Variety and adventure. Field work. Travel. New challenges. Diverse content across platforms.
  • Mentorship from an experienced marketing and membership team.
  • Creative autonomy. Space to suggest ideas and own your work.
  • Competitive pay and professional development support.
  • The satisfaction of knowing your content actually keeps people safe.
