Surf Life Saving Queensland is seeking a highly capable and calm‑under‑pressure Communications Coordinator to join our State Operations and Communications Centre (SOCC). In this critical operational role, you’ll be part of the team that keeps Queenslanders safe by coordinating emergency responses, supporting volunteers, and ensuring smooth communication across our state‑wide network.

What You’ll Do:
- Receive, triage, and accurately record urgent and non‑urgent incident information.
- Dispatch the most appropriate resources swiftly and accurately.
- Maintain real‑time situational awareness during active incidents.
- Liaise with operational staff, emergency services, and the public.
- Mentor, train, and guide dispatch operators.
- Foster a positive team culture and support volunteer Surfcom Operators.
About You:
- Blue Card (or the ability to obtain one)
- Strong typing accuracy (40+ wpm)
- Confidence using multi‑screen systems and digital platforms
- Clear, professional communication skills (written & verbal)
- The ability to remain calm, decisive, and empathetic
- Flexible to work a rotating roster system including weekend work
- Experience in emergency services, communications centres, or similar roles (desirable)
