Strive Community Care provides therapeutic home environments for children and young people with histories of complex trauma, abuse, and neglect. We utilise a strong Therapeutic Framework and our unique CREATE Model of Care, with a focus on establishing holistic safety. Children and young people are provided with a sense of family, opportunities to heal, connect positively with others, and rebuild their lives.
We are now looking for Casual Therapeutic Care Workers in the Bundaberg Region to play a key role in supporting children and young people in their healing journey by providing care in therapeutic residential homes. As a Casual Worker, you will have the flexibility of varied hours while contributing meaningfully to the safety, stability, and growth of the young people in our care.
These positions require work across a 24/7 rotating roster, including sleepovers, weekends, and public holidays.
Duties of the successful applicant include:
Building and promoting a positive, caring, and therapeutic environment that supports the children and young people residing in our homes.
Forming and maintaining professional, nurturing relationships with children and young people by building trust through consistent engagement and genuine interest.
Maintaining safety through effective implementation of Behaviour Support Plans and Individual Crisis Management Plans.
Providing care that aligns with attachment- and trauma-informed principles, consistent with our CREATE Model of Care.
Supporting young people with essential daily needs such as nutrition, hygiene, school engagement, routines, and meaningful life experiences.
Demonstrating an empathic understanding of complex trauma, responding to pain-based behaviours in a sensitive, non-punitive manner.
Acting as an appropriate adult role model, engaging young people in purposeful activities that develop life skills, confidence, and self-worth.
Assisting children and young people to strengthen their capacity to be active participants in their community.
A successful applicant will require the following Qualifications and Experience:
Completed, or actively working towards, a minimum Certificate IV qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Youth Work, Social Work, Social Science, Counselling) – essential.
Current Provide First Aid Certificate or equivalent – essential.
Valid, unrestricted Australian driver’s licence.
Valid WWCC (Paid Blue Card).
Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (Yellow Card) or willingness to apply.
Valid LCS2 (completed within the last 12 months).
Experience working with young people with complex trauma is highly regarded.
Experience in case plans, safety plans, behavioural support plans, case noting, and report writing is desirable.
Cultural knowledge and/or lived experience that supports inclusive, culturally responsive practice is strongly valued.
