About the Role

Strive Community Care provides therapeutic home environments for children and young people with histories of complex trauma, abuse, and neglect. Guided by our strong Therapeutic Framework and our unique CREATE Model of Care, we focus on establishing holistic safety and supporting young people to heal, connect, and rebuild their lives.

As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Therapeutic Care Leader in the Bundaberg region to play a pivotal leadership role in the delivery of high‑quality therapeutic care within our residential homes. This role is responsible for guiding and supporting Therapeutic Care Workers, ensuring best practice, and fostering safe, nurturing, and structured environments for the young people in our care.

Therapeutic Care Leaders work across a 24/7 rotating roster, including sleepovers, weekends, and public holidays, while also providing leadership support to teams across multiple homes when required.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Support

Lead, mentor and support Therapeutic Care Workers to ensure high‑quality, trauma-informed practice. Model therapeutic approaches and guide staff in implementing our CREATE Model of Care. Support staff during crisis or escalated presentations, ensuring consistent adherence to Behaviour Support Plans and Individual Crisis Management Plans. Facilitate team debriefs, reflective practice, and contribute to a supportive and positive team culture.

Young Person Support

Promote a nurturing, safe, and predictable home environment for children and young people. Build and maintain professional, trusting relationships informed by trauma‑aware and attachment‑focused practice. Support young people to meet daily needs: education, personal care, routines, health, and meaningful engagement. Encourage and develop independent living skills such as cooking, budgeting, maintaining a home, and community engagement. Respond to pain‑based behaviours with empathy, patience, and non‑punitive strategies.

Operational Responsibilities

Contribute to the development and implementation of case plans, safety plans, and behaviour support strategies. Ensure compliance with organisational policies, regulatory requirements, and quality standards. Complete accurate case notes, incident reports, and documentation within required timeframes. Liaise with external stakeholders including Child Safety, schools, community organisations, and therapeutic supports.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

Certificate IV or higher in Youth Work or a related field (completed or in progress) First Aid / CPR certificates Unrestricted Australian driver licence. Paid Blue Card (Working with Children Check). NDIS Worker Screening (Yellow Card) or willingness to apply. LCS2 check (within last 2 years). Current National Police Check (within last 12 months). Experience working with children and young people who have experienced complex trauma.

Highly Desirable:

Demonstrated leadership or senior worker experience in OOHC or similar settings. Experience contributing to case planning, risk assessments, and therapeutic care planning. Strong report writing and documentation skills. Cultural understanding or lived experience supporting culturally responsive practice.
