Primary Function:

The National Business Manager – Independents is responsible for commercialising and driving strategies and programs for Independent groups in collaboration with marketing, sales and finance.

Nature and Scope:

This position manages all commercial aspects of the national Independent groups including pricing, negotiations, promotions and relationship management. The position also ensures adequate operating margins for the national Independent retail banners and acts as the main point of contact for specific national banner groups.

Responsibilities include:

  • Overall management including relationship management, negotiations, promotions, marketing requirements and financial viability for allocated national groups.
  • Analyse and qualify all non on-trade new business opportunities as they arise to ensure they meet business requirements
  • Overall management of the Spirits Platform cask program
  • Build and distribute presentations and communications to the wider sales teams regarding national Independent programs, activities, promotions etc
  • Ensure positive ROI of National Independent programs by monitoring and analysing commercial spend and outputs
  • Work cross functionally with National Trade Marketing team and the wider marketing team to develop banner specific marketing plans
  • Work cross functionally with Operations team to ensure adequate stock management for national Independent programs
  • Work with State Managers to review monthly forecasting to ensure coverage for national Independent program activities
  • Ensure timely and correct loading of promotional programs for sales team
  • Review and approve all national Independent group claims for accuracy and ensure claims are received in a timely manner
  • Spend time in trade both independently and with the sales teams to ensure programs and promotions are implemented correctly and to gain insights into competitor activity
  • Manage and regularly review national Independent groups trading terms in conjunction with the National Independent Sales Manager
  • Develop, manage and communicate regular internal reporting for national Independent groups
