About the role
Speech Pathology Australia (SPA) is the national body
representing over 16,000 members in the speech pathology profession. SPA
supports and regulates the ethical, clinical and professional standards of its
members as well as lobbying and advocating on behalf of all Australians living
with communication and swallowing difficulties.
SPA is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Membership
Support Officer to join our Membership team. This role plays a key part in
delivering high-quality, responsive support to our members and prospective
members, ensuring a positive and professional experience at every interaction.
Key responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Act as the first point of contact for members, prospective members and the
public via phone, email and other communication channels
- Provide high-quality customer service, resolving the majority of enquiries at first contact
- Process membership applications, renewals, re-entry and skills assessments within
agreed timeframes
- Update and maintain accurate member records in the iMIS database
- Assist with membership payments, direct debit enquiries and overdue accounts
- Manage the membership inbox and identify workflow or service issues
- Conduct outbound welcome calls and follow-ups to support member engagement
- Triage and escalate complex or sensitive enquiries to the appropriate team members
- Provide general administrative support to the Membership team
- Share member feedback and service trends to support continuous improvement initiatives
About you
You’ll bring a strong customer-focused approach and enjoy
working as part of a collaborative team. You’ll also have:
Essential requirements:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in an office or administrative role
- Strong customer service skills, including professional telephone etiquette
- High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
- Effective time management and problem-solving abilities
- Competency using Microsoft Office programs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable:
- Qualification in administration or a related field
- Experience using iMIS, CRM systems or databases
- Experience working in a not-for-profit or member-based organisation
