So, what duties can you expect to do in your apprenticeship?
- Assist with mowing of sports fields, surrounds, and open turf areas.
- Help with line marking and game-day field setup.
- Support irrigation checks, hand-watering, and minor repairs.
- Participate in turf renovation practices like aeration, scarifying, and topdressing.
- Assist with fertiliser applications and soil improvement under supervision.
- Learn safe use of machinery such as ride-on mowers, line markers, blowers & brush cutters.
- Carry out weed, pest, and disease control with guidance.
- Perform edging, trimming, and general presentation of field surrounds.
- Help maintain garden beds, trees, and landscaped areas across the complex.
- Support seasonal renovations to keep playing surfaces safe and consistent.
- Assist with maintaining goalposts, nets, and sports equipment.
- Attend TAFE training and apply classroom learning directly on-site.
What will you need?
- Driver’s licence and own transport. Or ability to get to site.
- National Police Check or willing to obtain one.
- Working with Children Check, or willing to obtain one (if over 18 years old)
