We are now looking for a highly motivated, hunter-style Business Development Manager to join our high-performing Sydney Automotive sales team. If you have a strong network of automotive dealers, wholesalers, or fleet clients — and the drive to build your own book of business — this is your opportunity to shine.

At Slattery Grays, the Business Development Manager role involves proactive, self-driven sales activity where you identify your own leads and build long-term relationships to become a trusted partner for the disposal of surplus assets across automotive.

For your efforts you will be rewarded with a competitive salary, an uncapped incentive plan, and a suite of benefits including ongoing training, flexible working arrangements, and the backing of a business focused on growth.

Your Responsibilities

  • Assessing potential partners, performing competitive research, evaluating proposed deals/partnerships, and developing business cases for new business targets.
  • Be the lead point of contact for customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders while delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Leverage and grow your existing dealer or fleet network to build a strong pipeline of high-value opportunities.
  • Build strong professional relationships within your local and national team.
  • Provide accurate revenue forecasts and regularly review sales results to ensure KPIs and budget goals are met.
  • Be regularly on-site with clients to provide market-leading advice and tailored sales solutions.
  • Utilise strong interpersonal, influencing, and negotiation skills to secure and close new business.
  • Plan, market, and execute local sales strategies, proposals, and presentations.
  • Represent and promote the Slattery Grays brand externally and act as a true brand ambassador.
  • Travel as required to meet your clients and execute sales strategies.

We’re Looking for Someone Who Has

  • Existing networks and market knowledge within the automotive and/or transport sectors, particularly with dealerships, wholesalers, or fleet providers.
  • Demonstrated success in operating effectively in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Confidence to manage and grow a self-sourced pipeline, without needing constant direction.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence clients at all levels.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach in a constantly evolving business and market.
  • Automotive industry experience is essential.
  • A valid driver’s licence and a willingness to travel.
  • A strong ability to work autonomously, while also collaborating with remote colleagues and leadership.

What’s in it for You

  • The chance to join a growing business under new leadership with a clear vision and real momentum.
  • A competitive salary, car allowance, and a commission structure that rewards results.
  • A flexible, autonomous role where you’re trusted to manage your own time and grow your territory.
  • Ongoing development and sales training, and access to national support teams.
  • Flexible work arrangements -work from home, the office, or on the road.
