Reporting to the Director, Commercial, the Senior Commercial Advisor will be at the forefront of shaping water infrastructure projects. You’ll provide commercial and transaction advice from early investment decisions, business case development, through to procurement, contract execution, and delivery. This is your chance to make a real impact on high-profile, complex projects that matter.
What you do:
Commercial Advisory & Transactions
- Provide strategic commercial advice on water and public infrastructure projects across the full asset lifecycle, from planning to operations, to inform decision-making and manage risks.
- Support government clients in structuring and delivering complex procurements, including business cases, market engagement, delivery, and commercial model analysis.
- Lead or support transaction processes through procurement strategy, interactive procurement approach, bid evaluation, and contract negotiations.
Financial Advisory
- Build and review commercial/contractual financial models to inform investment decisions and evaluate commercial options.
- Conduct financial and commercial analysis to support value-for-money outcomes and risk assessment.
- Contribute to feasibility studies and business cases with both qualitative and quantitative insights.
Contracting & Negotiation
- Draft and review commercial principles, coordinate the legal input into the development of terms sheets, and contracts to align with project objectives.
- Lead or support negotiations to resolve complex commercial issues and secure favourable outcomes.
Stakeholder & Client Engagement
- Build strong, trusted relationships with government agencies, delivery partners, and key stakeholders.
- Collaborate across internal teams to align strategic advice, commercial frameworks, and project delivery.
Risk & Governance
- Identify and manage commercial, transaction, and procurement risks throughout project stages.
- Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies and maintain risk registers.
Who you are:
Candidates should possess:
- Tertiary qualifications or similar relevant qualifications.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in commercial advisory and/or transaction management, ideally within the water sector and major infrastructure projects.
- Proven ability to deliver commercial advice to support business case development.
- Experience in transaction management, procurement, and tender processes.
- Skilled in financial modelling and analysis.
- Strong negotiation skills with experience resolving complex commercial issues.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas to diverse audiences.
- Strategic thinker with a solution-focused mindset and the ability to perform under pressure.
- Strong team player with a track record of collaboration in high-performing environments.
- Background in consulting and/or public sector is preferred.
- High level of integrity and professional ethics.
