Position Description:

Reporting to the ‘Production Manager’, the ‘Production Team Leader’ will be responsible for overseeing the team, processes, quality, and safety of their production team. This role requires strong organisational skills and an engaging approach to team development in order to drive production improvements and cultivate a motivated, flexible, and enthusiastic team.

Operation

  • Assist with production planning, scheduling, and record-keeping to ensure operational targets are met       
  • Oversee daily operations, supporting the team in achieving operational targets, optimising material management, and minimising waste

HSEQ

  • Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety (WHS) procedures. In case of non-compliance, conduct comprehensive investigations, update reports, and implement corrective actions
  • Promote, uphold and ensure safe work practices are maintained and kept relevant for the work conducted by the production team
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and communicate relevant processes, procedures, and controls

Leadership

  • Provide consistent, respectful leadership and direction to the production team
  • Set high standards through personal example, ensuring all team members understand and uphold these standards
  • Communicate Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) from the strategic annual plan to ensure each team member is aware of expectations and deliverables
  • Provide product expertise and support to the team, addressing their queries in a timely manner and providing input for continuous development
  • Monitor time and attendance, ensuring compliance with company procedures
  • Take responsibility for training operators on products and essential quality metrics to meet customer expectations

Qualifications:

Essential

  • Forklift License
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing specifically in extrusion and/or mixing fields
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively troubleshooting equipment issues and implementing solutions
  • Previous experience in implementing continuous improvement initiatives
  • Fundamental understanding of quality, safety and environmental systems

Desirable

  • Computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office
  • Previous experience with detailed record keeping
  • Completed training in Leadership or Management
