Job Title: Manual QA EngineerLevel: Mid-Level (3–5 years’ experience)Employment Type: Full-time (Remote)Role OverviewWe are looking for a meticulous and proactive Manual QA Engineer with 3–5 years of experience to join our remote team. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality, stability, and usability of our software products through manual testing, thorough documentation, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. This role requires a strong eye for detail, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.Key Responsibilities1. Requirement Analysis & Test PlanningReview and analyze business requirements, functional specifications, and design documents.Understand feature requirements, workflows, and use cases to design appropriate test strategies.Collaborate with project managers to clarify requirements and acceptance criteria.2. Test Case Design & ExecutionWrite clear, detailed, and structured manual test cases covering positive, negative, edge, and exploratory scenarios.Execute functional, regression, integration, smoke, system, and UAT tests.Validate bug fixes and perform retesting to ensure issues are resolved.Ensure all testing is compliant with QA best practices and company standards3. Defect Reporting & ManagementIdentify, document, and track defects with precise reproduction steps, severity, and priority.Use defect tracking tools as used by the organization for logging and reporting bugs.Work closely with developers to clarify and reproduce issues efficiently.Monitor defect trends to identify recurring issues and areas for process improvement.4. Collaboration & CommunicationParticipate in remote Agile workflows, including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.Collaborate with developers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure clarity and quality at every stage of the release cycle.Provide clear updates on testing progress, issues, and risks to project stakeholders.5. Documentation & ReportingMaintain comprehensive test documentation, including test plans, test cases, test scripts, and defect reports.Prepare test summary reports, highlighting test coverage, defects, and overall release readiness.Maintain records of testing activities for future reference and audits.6. Continuous ImprovementParticipate in discussions to improve QA processes, workflows, and testing efficiency.Conduct exploratory testing to uncover hidden or unexpected issues.Stay updated on industry trends, QA tools, and testing best practicesRequired Skills & QualificationsExperience: 3–5 years in Manual QA testing for web and/or mobile applicationsStrong knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC)Proficient in defect tracking and test management tools (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla, TestRail, Zephyr, FreedCamp)Ability to design and execute detailed manual test casesUnderstanding of functional, regression, integration, system, smoke, and UAT testingFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum methodologyStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication, especially in a remote setupDetail-oriented and committed to delivering high-quality resultsPreferred / Additional SkillsBasic knowledge of SQL for database verification and validationExposure to API testing (Postman, Swagger)Familiarity with cross-browser and cross-device testingUnderstanding of automation testing concepts (Selenium, Cypress) – not mandatoryExperience in performance or security testing basicsAbility to mentor or support junior QA team members
