About the role
This role would suit someone from an IT support, technology operations, governance, compliance or data background looking to build their experience in ICT governance and compliance within our Operations team. The role focuses on supporting the end‑user
technology experience and delivering IT projects that improve business efficiency and uplift ICT capability across the firm.
Working closely with the Senior Director, Data & Technology, the Chief Data Scientist and consultancy teams, you will support systems design, process improvement and security governance, ensuring compliance with policies and obligations. A key component of the role includes supporting the ISO 27001 certification process and ongoing systems monitoring, as well as assisting with AI tool monitoring and management as required by the business.
We are open to candidates with varying levels of experience and to the role being based in any of our Australian offices (Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Canberra or Perth), supported by our wider IT and Operations team. This is an initial 12‑month fixed‑term contract, with the potential for permanency. Hybrid working is available.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, report on and troubleshoot IT systems to support ISO 27001 certification and ongoing compliance
- Support the management, monitoring and upkeep of AI tools used across the business
- Maintain and uplift of SEC Newgate’s data governance framework and compliance measures
- Assist with management of our network and related on-premises and cloud-based technology
- Assist with Setup, deployment and ongoing management of laptops, devices, hardware and software assets
- Assist with technology projects and continuous improvement initiatives
- Oversee helpdesk requests and provide timely end‑user support (phone, email and in person)
- Proactively report on IT issues and trends to identify opportunities for improvement
- Deliver small group or individual user training and contribute to improving ICT literacy across the firm
- Stay informed on industry developments and support innovation where appropriate
Ideal Skills & Experience
- Strong communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Self‑motivated, organised and comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment
- Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting capability, with high attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise work, meet deadlines and manage competing demands
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, while also operating autonomously and leading initiatives when required
- Experience implementing and/or maintaining an Information Security Management System (ideally based on ISO 27001)
- Experience managing cyber security risk and contributing to technology projects or initiatives
- Comfortable working with technical teams to formulate control statements and verify controls compliance
- Familiarity with Intune, Defender and Purview
- Some exposure to GenAI tools and an understanding of their implications for security and ways of working
- Tertiary qualifications in a technology/science discipline or relevant industry experience
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g. Microsoft, ITIL, security or compliance frameworks) are desirable
